Another Turbo Bumper Conversion - TK's Old Bumper
I've been looking to do something to the front of the CS for a while and could not find anything aftermarket that I liked as much as the OEM Turbo bumper. It just looks so much more aggressive than the S, so when I saw Ben @Wheelboutique list a complete front bumper and hood for sale down here in Miami, I jumped on it.
I picked the car up from the body shop today. They did a great job and took care of all the details very well including filling in the parking sensor holes. You can't even tell they were ever there... (This was the bumper and hood off TK's white Cayenne before they did the full Techart swap. My wife joked that we should get him to sign it :D ) http://www.hyboost.com/images/cayenne/bumper/1.jpg http://www.hyboost.com/images/cayenne/bumper/2.jpg http://www.hyboost.com/images/cayenne/bumper/3.jpg Here is what it looked like before the swap for comparison... http://www.hyboost.com/images/m3/seb...08/towing3.jpg http://www.hyboost.com/images/m3/seb...08/towing6.jpg |
It looks way better now. What body kit did you had on your Supra?
|
Thank you.
It was just the RMM front lip and RMM rear wing with carbon center on the Supra. It was dropped on Tein coilovers with 19" HRE 847R's. (I miss it, but based on my current needs, the M5 just made more sense) |
Agree, it looks way more aggressive. Good choice of wheels too.

very nice - i have never seen that colour in person - only on the web.

VERY NICE!!!!!
I have the same colour on my CS and that's what I want to do also, Turbo front spoiler & hood, rear lower turbo valance & exhaust tips. ps. what wheels you have? do you have any suspension mods? |

Looks good! Should add the TechArt add on lips that have 4 fog lights.

I will soon be converting to the Turbo Bumper on my CS Titanium Edition. Do you have any pointers for me as I take the plunge? What snags did you run into and how did you resolve them? Your conversion looks great. I too am disappointed in myself for not paying for the air suspension when I ordered the car.

I got the following parts list off other posts here on 6speed. It was almost complete with a few exceptions (listed below) Here is a complete parts list from this forum 95550531104G2X Bumper 95550506101G2X Spoiler 95550568301 Upper grill 95550568400 Lower grill 95550568101 Grill left 95550568201 Grill right 95550591501 Cover 95550515501G2X Cap 95550515601G2X Cap 95570110503G2X Support 95562830300G2X Washer housing 95562830400G2X Washer housing 95562816300 Nozzle 95562816400 Nozzle Once we started assembling it all, we realized that the brackets holding the headlight washers would also need to be replaced. The ones for the CS bumper go straight up and down, while the turbo bumper needs them to come out at a 45 degree angle to clear the larger front grille oppenings. The part numbers for the brackets are: 95562818700 95562818800 The final issue we ran into was clearance on the black plastic panels behind the bumper. The CS ones extend out too much and make contact with the new turbo bumper. You have 3 options: trim/cut, replace with turbo ones, or remove completely. Oh, and if you have the SS skid plate on your CS, you won't be able to reuse it on the turbo bumper. The turbo plate is a completely different part number too. Good luck and feel free to email me with any questions. Rob robek11@hotmail.com |
Thank you for all the great information. So how did you remedy the ducting problem? Did you cut your existing, buy turbo or go without? The body shop quoted me about $90 dollars a piece for turbo ducts so I plan on going in that direction. But if cutting them will work without compromising looks and overall quality I might opt to go that route.
