Thanks!

I have a brand new '09 GTS and I don't foresee ever needing to use my OEM trailer hitch.
I would be willing to sell you mine.
I need to know:
1. How easy it is to remove?
2. How much a new lower trim piece is to replace mine that has a notch in it for the existing hitch.
3. Where the wiring harness is located and if it's easy to remove
If someone can help with these questions, I'll part with my OEM hitch.

2) ??????
3) the computer and wire harness are behind the CD changer up on the fender well. The interior panels need to be removed to access the hardware. (This is the hardest part)
4) once you remove the factory hitch you will need the alum bumper. If you are going to sell your hitch make sure you get the buyers factory alum bumper & hardware in the deal
Thanks....
Sounds a bit too complicated and troublesome to bother.
Sorry.

Sorry.
1) easy.....The hardest part is getting the bumper cover off and that is not that hard at all.......just remember after you remove all that hardware two guys pull back and the bumper cover will slide right off.

After looking at both the aftermarket and OEM hitch options for the Cayenne, I have to agree that the OEM version is by far the best way to go for many reasons. The only problem is the huge price difference that most of us find hard to justify.
I may have a solution.
As the VW Toureag has some of the same components as the Cayenne I was thinking that the hitch and wiring may be the same.
I called my local VW dealer in Toronto and got a hitch kit part # 7L0 092 105 UA. at $799.98 can. This kit includes the 7700 lbs hitch, all the wiring and the important tow module that connect to the computer system.
Before I go ahead and order one, has anyone ever tried installing the above Toureag hitch kit on a Cayenne and if so, does everything work properly including the tow module?
I could not find any info about this cross install on any forum, but someone must have tried this in the last five years!

Unless you decide you don't like the way it looks and just want to get rid of it I'd pay to have it removed for you.
