a a is infamous around these parts
No offense intended but why do some people always want to finance all and everything? Look at the economical mess all around and it looks like the worse still has to come...

Where I live some people even buy a microwave oven on finance. I mean, come on...

I'm a proud owner of a 997. It's paid in cash and I cherish it everyday.

I write off business. More sense to finance and depreciated and write off than pay cash FOR ME.
Everyone needs wants different things. Could I have paid cash? Who knows bit if I did my money wouldn't have been working for me as much.

Great. Your capital is now tied up in a rapidly depreciating asset. What if instead you would have used a loan or a lease to acquire the vehicle and you still had the $90K in cash sitting in a bank? You could go out and buy real property with your cash and probably have something of value in five or ten years from now when your 997 will be essentially worthless.

Certainly, credit has been over utilized in certain segments of the economy but is offering your judgement based on a reasonable question helpful? Nobody is asking about financing a $200 microwave. It is fine you prefer to pay cash for you vehicles, but that certainly does not make it the most prudent decision for everyone.

If you lease, you should minimize your down payment for reasons that are more complex than this short response allows. If you obtain a loan, most lenders are requiring 20% or more down. Depending on where you live, Porsche Financial may be about the only game in town for leases/loans over $100K.

Assuming excellent credit scores, the lease MF is about 0.00320 with residuals of 55% @ 36 mo and 49% @ 48 mo - these rates changed Jan. 1 so I may be off a little bit. Loan interest rates are around 6%. So if you paid $100K for a vehicle with an MSRP of $110K, lease payments would be about $1,750 (zero down) and loan payments about $1,700 (20% down + sales tax). Leasing is attractive if you can write the lease off. The new stimulus bill will probably have a new car purchase tax rebate so purchasing may become more attractive.

Expect step discounts on vehicles on the lots - '08's should be near invoice, 09's at least 5-10% off MSRP. Some dealers want to move their inventory while others seen content to wait for the one buyer wiling to pay more so shop around.

well technically if you pay cash...up anything over 10k is automatically written up to the IRS...because they want to know how you got that much cash...not everyone can just drop 100k cash on the table at the porsche dealership...
