Steel Suspension options on a 04-07 Cayenne

Hey all,

I have about 60K miles on my Cayenne. I have the steel suspension, and am looking to upgrade the suspension. I definitely want to lower the car with H&R springs. Anyone have experience with aftermarket shocks? Or should I just replace the shocks with OE ones? Any advice is appreciated.

Also, if there are other things that I should be aware of to change at the 60k mark, please do advise.

Thanks,

Mike

I wonder whether Bilstein or Koni makes shocks/struts for Cayenne or not, but for sure they are the good brands.

Depending on your budget, I would go with the KW-V3 coilovers for the Cayenne/S. They are pricey, about $4K but from what others have said, the ride quality improves considerably plus they are adjustable. You can lower 3in or more whereas with springs I think you can only lower about 1.5 inches and ride quality will be unbearable.

The V3's valving is fully adjustable in compression and rebound to suit your taste.

I will definitely look into the coilovers. Would love to have the capabilities to adjust the compression/rebound settings.

I saw a "cup kit" on cargraphic's site from bilstein. It's called the Sport Suspension Bilstein B12 kit. It lowers : FA: -25mm / RA: -25mm. Anyone have experience with this?

mike,

you do not want to get springs. had some on my old 997 that i sold and they rode pretty rough. besides if you get the springs you have to replace your shocks sooner too. so i you look at the cost, its almost as if you purchased coilovers. i really regret getting h&r springs, it felt like i was rubbing my azz on the road.
