So you think they are the same or better quality as say a BBS 2 or 3 piece forged rim?

Also have question on aspect ratio / overall diameter and running a staggered setup like a 9 x 11 stagger.

On overall diameter - what is the right way to do this? I've had a guy tell me the correct tire size to maintain overall stock rolling diameter is as follows:

20: 275/40/20
21: 295/35/21
22: 295/30/22

Yet I see a lot of guys running the Toyo Proxes in 285/35/22?? He said you can void your warranty and has "actually seen transmission damage as you are changing the gear ratio"...seems like that would be a stretch has anyone heard of this happening?

Second question is on staggering? Why do and why don't people run a 9 x 11 or something? Again I see most guys running 10 inch all around I believe is there any problem with running say a Cargraphic 21" rim in a 9 x 11? Assuming you would need to get different size tires then - like a 275 up front and a 295 out back?

Any advice is appreciated - I need to figure all this out in next 1-2 days as I need new wheels/tires to pass inspection and want to upgrade anyway.

From this picture can you tell if this is the staggered setup I am talking about F 21x9 and R 21 x 11. The guy who posted the picture on another site seems to think this is a 9 x 11 staggered setup. What tire combination could you run with the 9 x 11 stagger for a 2004 Cayenne Turbo and stay within the factory or OEM total overall rolling diameter? These appear to me to be a Dunlop SP Sport 9000 (but I am not an expert here, just comparing the tread pattern to the tirerack website).

Pulling the trigger today on some new 20s, might just go with the OEM reproduction Techno Sport or whatever their are called and put a 20" tire with a nice sidewall, like a 275/40/20 to deal with the NYC potholes. Then when i dedice exactly which forged setup I want I'll have these as a backup / winter set.

Any thoughts on the above comments on aspect ratio and potential transmission damage? Is that just BS or is there something legit there?

I love my 22s. I bought the CTT used, and that's what they came with, so I don't know any different for comparison. That being said, I have driven vehicles with harder rides and softer rides. As long as you avoid MAJOR pot holes (moderate ones, if unavoidable, make me cringe only a little) there shouldn't be major problems.

Great traction/stickiness too, good feel of the road. I can't imagine wanting a "softer" ride.

I'm running the 285/35 R22's on my CTT and it's only a 2.72% difference in tire diameter from stock. the 295/30 R22 is .279% different from stock. So the 295 is better but the issue is finding a 10.5" wheel. the 285 is popular b/c you can put it on a 10" wide wheel.

My $.02 - I LOVE my 22s! Feel of the road, stickiness and handling improvements are worth the little degradation of ride that I feel.

Thats what I was thinking with regards to it only being a few % difference from stock overall diameter. Yet this guy who was pretty knowledgeable was basically scaring the hell out of me talking about how a 285/35 will change the final drive ratio and "I've seen guys damage their transmission, blah, blah.."

I really didn't know whether to believe him or not, but at same time what would his motivation be to tell me this otherwise? I wasn't even buying tires from him, only wheels and it was going to be a 22" wheel no matter which tire.

Thanks for the comments on the ride. Sounds like if I am careful around NYC it will be fine. I also bought the 20" Sport Technos as backup/winter tires and put the Michelin Latitude all season on there. Thats about the least aggressive tire I would ever run but supposedly its FAR better than the summer max performance tires in the rain and cold/snow conditions.
