Cayenne with NAV - DIY install of Mobridge - Someone with good pics??

Hi guys,

Have done a search but couldn't find a really good tutorial on the mobridge install. Am I just missing it? If so, could someone post a link to a good DIY overview?

I'm looking for something like this: http://www.wjjeeps.com/audio.htm

Which details all you need to know and has great pics as well. Thanks.

It depends on where you want to install the Mobridge and how nice you want it to look.

I have a GW500 that I installed in the CDC area of the Cayenne and fabricated a bracket to hold it. Or you can install it in the area behind the Nav Screen and probably not have to fabricate a thing.

I know mudman2 installed the Mobridge behind the nav screen because I had found pictures of his install on Rennlist and the pictures pretty much showed the basics of how to install it.

The hardest part is probably tapping the 12V and ground wires going to one of the outlets to get power for the device and that isn't too difficult.

Thanks for the advice. I will look up mudman and shoot him a PM for his post. Is he the same alias on Renntech?

I plan to install it behind the NAV although I don't really have any reason I couldn't install it by the CDC except I do want to have the ability to run an aux-in cable all the way to the center console. I guess that is still fine, I'll just have to run it under the carpet and up through the center console and have the cable come out there.

I'm pretty sure it is the same alias, I think I saw his pictures on Rennlist however.

I installed my GW500 in the CDC area because that is where I toss my bags into the car in the morning. Dension highly recommended installing it behind the nav which I could have done. There are three 12V outlets very close to the nav monitor so you shouldn't have much trouble whichever way you decide to go.

If you're up to tapping the 12V outlets yourself, here is a tutorial on how to do it right. http://www.teamnovak.com/tech_info/h...der/index.html

Good luck.

Very helpful info. Thank you. Didn't realize I needed to tap into a power supply but I guess that makes sense.

I may ask around for very good CT/NY area installers who are familiar with the Cayenne / Mobridge and have them do a nice install for me where they also incorporate the satellite radio. Speaking of which, I need to do a search on that now and find out the best solution there. I have a portable Sirius unit (one of the newer small units) that plugs into a simple Aux-in but if there are good OEM style solutions out there I would prefer going that route and have all of this done at the same time.

Either way I want the aux-in because I also use my Blackberry Bold as an iPod - almost prefer it to the iPod actually as it mutes the radio when I get calls, has some very nice find/sorting features and sound quality is just as good as iPod if not better not to mention don't need to have two devices on me and synched up all the time.
