Angry dealer scratched rim

when i went to pick up my car from service i did a quick walk around before i went inside to talk to service advisor and noticed that they scratched up one of my brand new techart 22" wheels.

i mentioned this immediately and he came outside and denied that they had done this as it was the drivers side front wheel and they only moved car into service bay. after arguing with the guy for 10 min he admitted that they are at fault. i told them i was going to check with my tuning shop if techart sold replacement lips as i know they cannot repair this type of lip.

techart does not sell these and i had the tuning shop phone porsche with a quote of ~1,800 for a new rim.

the damaage is not too bad but it down right pisses me off

i have to phone the service advisor back now
suggestions???

If it is not on their initial damage report, then it is their responsability. Handle it calm as yelling at them will just get you into a legal battle. Should they continue to deny fault and not pay to repair it, a legal letter might change their mind...
Good luck!

i dont even think they do initial damage reports. he was saying it would take forever to check every vehicle when they come in

i just don't want to get on bad terms with them as they have been warranty friendly with after market mods

for the amount of damage and the cost it is not worth buying a new rim but its the principal. maybe we can come to some fair medium like a few hours of free labor...

it would take forever to do a walk around on vehicles?

well then, this their cost of doing business!
they obviously deem the cost of repairing something that they could've noted on a walk around, is worth not doing the walk around.

it's like 50 bucks for each little repair... have them fix it, mine did.

Even after I got home, I then washed it and was like wtf. this could have only come from the wheel falling on the wrong side....

called them, talked to my service rep, then the manager... without hesitation, they said bring it in and they took car of it... looks brand new now....

A big tip:

When installing tires always DEMAND that someone does a walkaround with you first and then document "no prior damage to wheels" before install. We do it with our installs here just to remove the doubt.

Hi Matt, that's too bad! I just got one of my Cayenne factory wheels fixed by Blaskin and Lane after they damaged it during a swap. They used Alberta Wheel repair, and I phoned them to fix up some curb rash on my sport technos; about $150ish per wheel, but they aren't open Saturdays??

Anyway, if you have any dated pictures before the visit you could use them for leverage (or at least say you have pictures). That's what I've resorted to now, taking pictures all around the vehicle prior to any work, just in case.....

Was this at SS?

Wow, Matt... sorry to hear. Had the same thing happen to my GS, and the dealer fixed it no problem. If the damage is so bad that you think they need to replace the rim, stay strong and tell them to make things right!

I found $100-125 to be market for these types of fixes (vs. replacement) depending on the damage. Let us know how it turns out!
