I was about to order a set of KW V3 coilovers and put on some 22's (on 295/30/22 tires). I'm not expecting that its not gonna be the smoothest truck in the world when I go over speed bumps and what not, but I don't want a ride that is gonna have passengers complain about neck pain. What you guys have just said is making think twice about doing this now (even though I hate the look on 18" wheels and up high)
How rough would you rate the ride on a scale of 1-10 (1 being the roughest, 10 being the smoothest ride)? How would you rate it when it was stock? Would you do it again in the future? It would be interesting how dramatic you'd rate the difference here.
Also, would you still take your Cayenne on a cross country road trip or do you think it would get annoying pretty quickly?
I think answering the above questions for those of us considering going the same route as you would help tremendously! Thanks in advanced!

Hawk Ceramic Brake Pads
I assume you can use these Hawk ceramic pads on non-ceramic brakes? Where did you get yours?
Well you guys just nailed it for me with 2 open admissions of horrible ride. I was going to drop mine, but not if I am stopping every 1/4 mile to pick up my filings. Also - STICKY if you use Hawk ceramic pads, all your brake dust problems will disappear. If anything the hawks throw a very small amount of dust that is white.
Wait Wait... KW's are taking a bad wrap here. Mine are spun down to the bottom so obviously they ride bad. Not to mention i am running 30 profile tires... The car is dropped about 5"... But the car handles amazing.... I also have them on a stiff setting... I would still strongly recommend them to anyone looking for coilovers.
So why don't you keep the coilovers at the same height and just put them on a marginally softer setting?

I understand that when you have it on a stiffer setting it is going to handle better, but roxboxx and myself just got the impression that it was very uncomfortable for you to ride in the vehicle the way it is right now.
I guess I missed the full details, but after 2posts with the word KW and Bad Ride, it was enough for me to think - Hey, bad ride with the KW (a word association thing I guess
) No matter, my guess is if you stay in the middle of the range settings, and go with a reasonable amount of sidewall, it prob wont be that bad.
Logic dictates that these things have to make someone happy in order for them to sell more then 1 pair.
BTW - When I went from 18' to 20" my ride quality improved 100%. I wanted 40's but went 45's as I did not want that huge gap between the tire and the top of the fender well. My ride is great but i do want to close up the gap a bit and would like a little more crispness at high speed. I almost bit the dust this weekend going into a turn about 30 mph to fast. My brakes save my a$$, but i know if I was a lower and on stiffer rubber it would have been a non-issue.
POLAR - Ceramic pads are designed for good old pig-iron rotors, so no worries. Someone PMed me today about the pads and it got me thinking about the dust again. I just washed the C on sunday after one week of driving. There was pretty much no visible dust anywhere. With my OEMs I was felix ungering and cleaned them every 2 days.

I may pull them out and sell them in order to put in an air ride... I'll keep you posted...
