yellow calipers are normally associated with the ceramic brakes.
and other colours would make a classy car look like a japanese boy racer (imho)

Can anyone give me a quick lesson on buying new rims/tires. Hypothetically, if I bought a set off eBay, is there anything I should be cautious of? If a seller advertises them as "mounted and balanced with free nitrogen inflation" is there anything else that would need done? Could I change them myself? And finally, what's the deal with the TPMS?

I know that TPMS = tire pressure monitoring system. Last week it let me know my rear passenger tire was flat due to a huge bolt getting lodged in the tread.

I intended my question to ask: What (if anything) is involved with the TPMS when getting new rims? Does the system no longer work? Do I need additional parts from Porsche? Maybe I'm completely off-base but I thought I read somewhere that the TPMS caused additional problems when switching rims.

I purchased 20" rims on ebay for my winter tires. My Cayenne came with 21" wheels. I had 4 almost new 20" snow tires from my traded Range Rover Supercharged Sport and it was cheaper to buy 20" aftermarket rims than new 21" snow tires. I purchased tire pressure monitors from the Tire Rack. One of the rims took a some extra weight to balance but other than that absolutely no problems. Bought from this ebayer:

I think he is a tire dealer so if purchasing from him, I would request that he pre balance the wheels and send only wheels that required less than x amount of weight to balance. Unfortunately I don't know what x is. If buying the monitors from Tire Rack, ask them what is a normally acceptable amount of weight to balance a wheel. Maybe it doesn't matter as long as it can be balanced.
