Poll: Cayenne S vs. FX45
OK this belongs in the Cayenne forum, but since the pepper forum has VERY little traffic, I thought I'd post here. Moderators: pretty please don't move my poll to where it won't get any hits!
I've driven and love the Cayenne Turbo. Let's assume it's too much money; would you rather have a Cayenne S or an FX45? Naysayers: there is no "neither" option. Pick one!!

Well the Cayenne S and Turbo are awesome cars, but some seem to be plagued with problems. I have been very lucky with my Cayenne (other than my accident LOL), have had a few problems and I think they were worth the wait because I just can not stop smiling when I get the car back. Many of the problmes that people mentionare supposedly fixed in the MY2005. How long are you willing to wait before you purchase your next vehicle (Cayenne/FX)??

Having spent a lot of time in both, I'd recommend the FX over the S. The S has the pimp factor and is lightly bigger, and that's about it. There's a lot of drivetrain lash, and powertrain isn't exactly the smoothest either. Rattles, etc. Wasn't impressed considering the price. Just my opinion.
The Cayenne is a truck the Infinity is not.
Edit:
Considering the FX is really a bloated station wagon with absolutely no off road prowess...ie. Locking differential ect... If that's the type of car you want, you should consider the S4 Avant. It's a little more expensive than the FX, but there is no rice factor... and it's German

I honestly don't see the comparison. They are so different. The FX is a car and the Cayenne is a truck. I have a friend who got an FX35 and can't wait to get rid of it. But is it all personal opinion. He claims it is too cramped, too noisy, cheap and has some problems (which surprised me).
I personally like how the FX looks. It performs well too. But it so different from a Cayenne.
Cayenne is a heavy duty truck, with adjustable air suspension (I assume this option with your given sale price), adjustable ride, high towing ability, off road ability, etc. These things may or may not matter to you.
As far as service issues, mine has been reliable. There are a few issues I am having repaired but they are minor. I am surprised these truck don't have more problems considering the entire platform is clean slate. Everything is a new design on the Cayenne. When MB came out with the ML, it was much, much worse then the Cayenne issues, and it was much less sophisicated as well! I have 10500 miles now and I have enjoyed them all! I always hated SUVs but needed one. The Cayenne became the perfect SUV for me and I have driven them all (and hated them).
If you want to spend less, and have a high riding, sporty wagon, get the FX. It all depends on you needs and desires, but I still think they are so different.

IMO, the cayenne is the worst design that porsche had ever produced. It is like 10 years behind designwise compared to other car manufacturers. That being said, the technology in it, and how it drives is great. I just think visually it's pretty bad.

I have my second and it has been a great vehicle!!! If your not going off road... FX all the way...
Wow I thought there would be a clearcut winner...My timeframe for buying is probably 4-6 months out, so it will be right in the middle of the '05 model year.
I love the exterior of the FX, but the cheapness of the interior makes me want to gag. As many people have said, it is rock solid reliable - this would be a nice change from Porsche.
The technology seems to be better executed than on the Porsche, which is another selling point.
The Cayenne S exterior is OK+, but I'd have to do a couple things to it to really make mine different. I love the interior of the Cayenne S/Turbo, especially w/ supple leather. I also like the fact that it's bigger and I must admit that I like the idea of owning a "Porsche".
Power-wise, the FX sounds like it will do better in a straight line, and while the FX can hold its own in the twisties, it doesn't handle like a Porsche.
Hmm...this comparo really isn't making my decision any easier. Maybe I'll just hold out until I can afford a CTT!
