Transsyberia Off-Road
Transsyberia Off-Road
Took the Transsy out on some unimproved Forest Service roads in the North GA mountains today. It did fine, although the experience is completely different than the G off-road.
When the G goes over bumps, the springs and shocks flex pretty much silently. The struts and suspension of the Transsy - especially when lifted to the first or second lift position - are quite noisy with the struts being compressed as it goes over bumps and rocks. I went over and through everything without any problems; and cleared rocks that would have bottomed any lesser vehicle. Other than the noisy suspension, I was quite impressed. Put some decent A/T tires on it; and I'll probably be even more impressed. I was being extremely careful today not to bust a tire on the sharp rocks.
It also runs like a railroad engine on tracks when doing curvy mountain roads. The PDCC is pretty amazing.
My big problem is lack of leg room in the driver's position. I'm 6'4" and 260 lbs; and I have an arthritic knee and hip that get extremely painful unless moved and flexed occasionally. (Gettin' old!!) I could do that in the ML and can in the G. However, no way in the Transsy; and after an hour or two behind the wheel, I can hardly walk when I get out.

Glad you're enjoying the new Cayenne, Dutch.
Sucks about the interior room, hope you can get used to it.
Are you overweight? Does the knee and hip allow you to exercise?
I'm a trainer and work with KBs a lot. Very good for functional strength, flexibility and overall conditioning.

In some cases, people can improve their situation without surgery by making some lifestyle changes - eating better and exercising. That may not be the case with you, but good luck either way.
