buying a cayenne turbo, questions

I'm in the final stages of buying a cayenne turbo or S model. I'd love a little advice.

Does anyone know the difference in price between similarly equipped (except for the engines, of course) turbos and S models? It looks to me like the delta is 15-20K.

Is there any difference between a turbo and an S model (except for the engines and options, of course)? As near as I can tell, the answer is no.

Can you take a cayenne offroad without the offroad package? I'm speaking of mild offroading like fire roads, Death Valley stuff, Nevada ghost towns, that sort of thing. I guess the offroad package includes skid plates. I'm guessing that as long as you're careful, you're okay even without the offroad package.

Favorite tires (type and size) for mix of dry pavement and snow? I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and ski at Tahoe, so you've got three-four hours of freeway followed by zero-one hours of snow. Carlsen Porsche is displaying two 18" tires, one is a 235 width and the other is a 255. I can't recall the type just now.

Thanks to all for your comments.

2: The only difference between the S and the Turbo except for the engine is the front bumper, red calipers and dual tips.

3: I think the Cayenne can handle it without the offroad package.

4: For mix of dry pavement and snow I would say 19. I would say of course go with 22' lol

CS vs. CT: Just like Jamie said, but the brakes are more than just painted differently; they are actually more powerful brakes as far as I know. There is also a lot more standard stuff in the CT that is an option on the CS.

All Cayennes were made to really offroad right out of the box. If you're gonna be traversing serious obstacles, it would be worth it to have the skidplates/off-road package. I know you can add skid plates aftermarket too.

Everything said above is true.. only thing is I think the brakes on the S and Turbo are only different in color but other than that are identical. I think only the v6 has cheaper brakes.. someone has to know for sure

Yes, they are the same except for color. I believe the '05 performance package option does offer stronger brakes than on the '04 cayennes...

Turbo & S both brakes are same except Turbo's calipers are painted red. Turbo brake does not have better braking power except the new upgrade brake in the power package.

major difference are: (except 110hp )

air suspension is standard on Turbo optional on S.

PCM nav system is standard on Turbo optional on S.

full leather interior is standard on Turbo optional on S.

Bi-Xenon headlamps w/ dynamic leveling, cleaning and dynamic cornering light is standard on Turbo optional on S.

park assist is standard on Turbo optional on S.

Variable Assist Power Steering is stanrard on Turbo optional on S.

off-road package includes Enlarged wheel housing in black trim. Integrated running boards with skid pad. Enhanced powertrain protection with stainless steel skid plate. don't see the reason why u need them to go off-road, just make sure u don't have 20''s on it!
