Question Installing Cayenne Non-Smoker Shelf

Hey guys!

I have been trying to install the Cayenne Non-Smoker Shelf and it has been so hard to remove the AC unit.

I am using 2 screwdrivers to lever out the left and right latch, but I can not remove the AC unit.

Thus, if somebody has done it, please I need some advice,

Thanks!

Hey Pierre, what I usually do is use a 90 degree pick tool, and you can slide it in the slot, and twist it, and use the angled portion to release the locks. Put the car in "D" and set the e-brake as well. T20 torx on the ashtray screws. Hope all is well!

Correct, there is an opening below the spring lock, slide the pick in with the angled portion pointing up, and tilt it towards the lock and leverage the tab inward. That side should "spring" out and repeat for the other side as well.

Please take some pics while you're at it. I just got my non-smoker shelf from Suncoast today.

Suncoast has a picture and description of it. Go to their website and do a search for "non-smoker shelf".

What are you doing with the old ash tray? I broke the cigarette lighter spring on mine, so if you're willing to sell I may be interested

Yes, I got it from Suncoast with Ric. I really need an extra space to storage things because with the PCM you do not have sach space:

You can use the two power outlets located in the passenger footwell.

Still not sure if I want to give up the convenience of the one in the ashtray though...

I'm having a heck of a time figuring this one out.
Does anyone have pics on how to get the AC control out of the way?

I got it changed out.
When the clips are pushed back, the AC unit doesn't pop out. I found that I need to push the clips in with one screw driver and pull the side of the unit from behind with another. Once I got one side released, I did the same thing on the other using 2 screw drivers on the same side.
Anybody want to buy an ashtray unit?
