OT: the new LR3

I had some time to kill before meeting my girlfriend for lunch. I went to the local Land Rover Dealer which is 5 mintues from her work. I was curious to see the car and compare it with the CS that I have put an order for. I must say, I was impressed compared to the Discovery v8. LR product is looking good but just not enough to even be a consideration when I was deciding. I don't know much about their reliablity. Has anyone owned them? what are your thoughts? Has anyone test driven one?
The front looks good and the seating capacity of 6 or 7 people was nice 2.

give me your 2 cents.

My wife has an 03 Disco. Quite different then the new one. I love LR, always have. this is our second Disco. Wont buy another due to comfort issues. The seats are very hard and ingress/egress is difficult, especially with a new born...

Funny, I have never had a leak and am fairly satidfied with power. They changed engine in 03 and added more HP. It does OK for a super duper heavy car......

i was very impressed with the price & the options it came standard. the best part is the 7 roomy seats. i didn't mind the boxy looking as well & found that pretty cool design. however, after i test drove it i didn't like it at all. it's a totally truck. very slow. handles poorly. corners like a boat. well, nothing wrong with that since it's a truck. but the Cayenne is different. it handles even better than some of the sedans. depends on what u're looking for, both cars are great cars but was designed for different purposes IMO.

I agree with Arling. The Cayenne does handle better than a lot of sedans. I have driven s500, s430 amg and LS430. i think the Cayenne really does well for a car it's size. I ended up buying a cayenne by accident. I was bored one day and I was like the Cayenne looks okay. Let me drive it. I was pretty sure i was not going to like it since I don't like the SUV feel. Next thing I know I was totally impressed. The next few months i think about it and then see the techart body kit and wheels. and before you know it - I put a deposit on the car for an order.

I ordered an LR3 from the dealership for February delivery. I was very impressed during my dealer visit... a lot of truck for the buck. However, I canceled my order in favor of a Cayenne S due to the unknowns of a first year vehicle and Land Rovers questionable reliability history.
