Hi and thanks in advance for taking a look at my post. I have an 05 Cayenne that I've owned for a few years and absolutely love the car. The problem is that the car thinks that the passenger door is open when it's closed, it beeps, gives me a visual warning and it also turns the overhead lights on (just like it would if you were driving with the door open, i would imagine).
If anyone has any idea as to what sensor is bad, I'd love to hear about it. I did an internet search and came up empty. It should be a relatively easy fix and the dealership is 1 hour each way plus waiting time, it turns out into an all day event.

 

Well, I'll answer my own question so someone in the future may find this helpful...or not.
The sensors are located inside of the handle mechanism and the issue is across the product line. The entire mechanism that surrounds the sensor has to be replaced. I am being quoted $68 for the part and about 1 to 1.5 hours labor.
