Cayenne loaner
Cayenne loaner
Carrera S in the shop and the dealer gave me a 2010 Cayenne with 2.2k miles as a loaner. When they said they had a Cayenne loaner I was crossing my fingers that it would be a GTS but I was dreaming.
They pointed me to a white over black auto 6 cylinder. My own SUV is a great 2006 BMW X5 4.8is (355hp/369lb-ft tq, 0-60mph in 5.9, and 14.5 in the 1/4 I think), a precurser to the X5///M which I really love. My expectations were pretty low on the performance side as I tend not to think much of 6 bangers in SUVs or trucks especially with tall profile and narrower tires.
After driving it for a few days I think the seats suck and the brakes are too touchy, they are hard to modulate at low speeds. I really couldn't get too comfortable as the head rest does not move forward or back and since I recline a bit the headrest isn't anywhere near where I like it.
However, I'm assuming that a higher end model, one with a preformance orientation would come with alternative seats. Bottom line is I really liked the Cayenne. I was even impressed with the mid range torque on tap of the 6 and although it leaned and floated a bit on those tall tires I really liked it overall. Although I had planned on looking at a BMW X5 ///M as a future replacement to my X5 4.8is I will absolutely consider a Cayenne Turbo S. Just need to take one out for a few hours so I can flog it and see what it can do.
I have a new respect for the Cayenne for sure, really nice vehicle.
