update from PCNA on tires at

wear bar at 6k miles and 1qt/oil every 1k miles so far at 8k. porsche says 7500 is about right for tires on the turbo and that 1qt every 900 to 1k miles is also normal. these two issues (14 to 15 qts of oil and 2 full sets of 4 tires/year) combined with the incurable hesitation issue are just more than i'm willing to accept. if i can talk my wife into getting rid of this POS, i'm going to take the bath on it and get something built better by a manufacturer who owns and corrects it's ***** ups in the engineering dept. after 5 years with a bullet proof 993 and 996, i think i'm done giving my $ to porsche and will keep the CGT unless it turns out to be of the cayenne quality vs. the 993/996 variety (save for the obvious RMS issues they've failed to remedy in 8 or 9 model year boxsters and 911s).

I like the RR a lot but my wife doesn't. Also, the only dealer who services them is the Porsche dealer I left a couple years ago for inept service. We'd probably end up with an LX470 since the Cayenne is hurting for space too.

Ben: LX470 is a great car in my opinion, it never breaks. I have 2 of them back home LOL! comfy 7seaters and ugly LOL ^^

someone on the rennteam board says the seating and cargo space isn't much greater in the lx relative to the gx. why did you choose the l over the g?

go sit in both. the gx is tall and narrow, and not built on the same bulletproof platform as the LX/Landcruiser. i liked the gx but it felt like a Lexus-ized 4runner (which is what it is).

05 GX has the recently updated V8 with 270hp while the 05 LX has the same V8 (~230-235hp) as the 04 LX and GX. The same changes were made for the 05 4runner and not for the 05 Land Cruiser, indicating that Toyota/Lexus may see a future for the current GX/4Runner platform. It may signal that the LX/Land Cruiser is due for an update soon.

Just something to think about.

GX increase in HP is only at higher rpms from what I understand, pretty useless for a big truck. It's more for the brochure than anything else. The 235hp is plenty to get the LX moving -- I think it has over 300 ft/lbs of torque, you wouldnt want to drive that thing too fast!

I like the LX/LC as is for what it is. If they come out with an all new one I wouldnt want it for a couple years anyway.

Plus we sometimes need to put 3 carseats in the back seat -- they won't fit in the GX/4Runner without telling the kids to lean toward the middle and then slamming the door real hard!

Ben, I hear your pain. I have been major disappinted with my S. The hesitation problems have been incredibly annoying, not to mention very dangerous....

I had the transmission module replaced in Sept and then again last week. It is the same part number but has a new software version. So far, it feels like a new truck.

I have been at the end of my rope, if this problem comes back, it is gonna get legal. I will not accept this...BUT it seems like the first real fix yet.

Big difference in customer treatment here, eh? One company denies a problem exists while the other takes action and notifies all customers of it's decision to do the right thing:
