Effect of overall diameter on tires

I need to replace my stock 255/55/18 tires (Bridgestone Turanza) on my CTT and can't seem to find that tire locally (Panama), but I can easily find 255/60/18. I know the difference is minimal and I would only get more sidewall flex, but taking into account that its truly my wife's car and she does not test the limits of handling, well, its almost a moot point

My concern is if I can change tires and have an overall different diameter than what came stock with the truck. Mine has TPMS (which gives an error of not working about half of the time ) and I know there is a menu that one needs to select what tire size is on the truck.

So, anyone have any solid information? Just want to make sure I don't get the AWD system all screwed up or yet another warning light n the dash due to the difference in overall tire diameter size.

I've been building Jeeps with large tires for decades. That and plus size setups on race cars.

The size difference you are talking about is fine. Speedo and related functions will be slightly off but not enough to really stress about if those are the only tires you can get.

Very insignificant. I've seen people putting larger/smaller tires with more variance than that. To get a comparison of how much difference in OD you get with that size against stock plus the difference in rotation, you can use the tire size calculator at 1010tires.com. I don't think that small of a difference would trigger anything with the wheel and brake sensors that would affect their function. You'll never know your speedo and odo readings may even get a bit more accurate. You can verify that with GPS after your switch.

Thank you for the replies. I just found a small tire shop that oddly enough has a set of the 255/55/18 in stock. I will be putting Toyo Proxes ST II on this truck as I have had very good results with the original version of that tire on my Pathfinder.
