Is there a way to get the rear windows to roll all the way down on the first gen cayennes? I am hoping my car just has some child lock turned on or something of that effect.

 

I'm pretty sure you can't because of the rear fender

 

yeah, after having looked at if, you are absolutely right. I didnt realize the rear wheel arches ate into the rear doors so much.

 

that's funny, all the vw/audi(B and C platforms)/porsche (cayennes) that I know of ALL stop at about 2/3 - 3/4 however many bmw's are designed such that the rear will drop flush into the door. I loved that about our 07 wagon as our 08 audi wagon does not.

It's not only about where the door/fender intersect but more about how the designers dealt with it. bmw has the window sectioned with a larger "little wing" making the opening section narrow enough to drop in. It's also the longer wheelbase though on bmw's with the front wheels further out beyond the engine mount, also why they are balanced so well.

I'm just glad my lr3 windows drop flush.

 

Ohhh... didn't know this either. Was looking for the child lock inside the door jamb. So, its like the windows on a countach - good luck getting that drive-thru without opening the door !

 

That is a detractor in the design IMHO. I wish they' go all the way down.
