cayenne reliability?
^agreed. I have been modding cars for a few years, and your right messages boards are notorious for people talking about issues which may seem widespread but in actuality only affect 5% of vehicles. Especially once you start modding all bets are off, but from what I have read and seen the cayenne turbo is pretty reliable especially when compared to x5, range rovers, ml63, etc.
My buddy still has a b5 s4 with rs4 turbos meth etc, and I swear other than mods he spends a fortune on repairs I.e. broken axels, trannys, control arms etc. It is fast as a banshee tho. Somewere around 500chp

While I may complain about repairs and Non) coverage, the damn beast saved my life and the life of my passenger TWICE in one week. Stopped dead in tis tracks when a school bus driver waved someone blindly across traffic into the front of me at 30-35 mph. Beast didn't shake. No ABS feedback. No body roll forward into the white Escalade fool. Just planted itself. I was amazed.
Then, I pulled out in front of a turck that didn't have his lights on. My elderly friend warned me. I saw the truck out of my right rear passenger window. SLAMMED the gas and my friend siad I did the right thing because my SUV lept about 30 feet giving the other fellow the room he needed to stop.
How does one put a price on that?
I'm going to fight to get this beast in the best shape possible and when my CPO warranty expires, I'll pull all of the measures necessary to make this more reliable. With almost 86,000 miles I want this to be my last SUV.

I have looked at several X5's as well as CTT's. I also spoke to service tech's at two seperate dealers. I was led to believe that the X5's have more problems and are generally less reliable. That being said I am currently looking for a highly optioned 2008 CTT is silver.
The CTS is tempting but, due to the limited number produced it is much harder to find the options I am looking for and they are considerably more expensive then a similarly optioned CTT.
I bought a 2012 cayenne turbo back in Oct 2011. The first 3 months I owned it, the coolant piping came out. Had it fixed under warranty. 1 and half year later, my Upper control arm bent at 19k miles. Now last week the dam car just broke down again due to coolant problems. Needless to say I will be trading in the car for something else.
After spending a lot of time detailing my expenses to date, 6-speed requires me to re-login and losses all my work.
In a nutshell, I detailed my year to date costs of keeping this 2005 on the road. It must be fast approaching $20,000! And she has been off the road in the shop for more than one month already this year!
I still have major repairs to address on this car soon.
THEY ARE UNRELIABLE and sadly Porsche doesn't appear to me making the newer ones any better.

I'm calling BS without much further explanation.
. Blanket statements like this don't offer much without details on type of use and type of repairs.
My 04 has cost me about $700 total in 111,000 miles that I would not consider normal reasonable maintenance or upgrades.
Many other users have had the same experience.

I am with cole on this. Mine has 100,000 miles. I have driven 12000 in the last year. All I have done is front brakes and an oil change which are maintenance items. I have all the records for this car and very very little has been more than routine maintenance and the 3 know issues of coils, coolant pipes and driveshaft. In contrast my wife's Grand Cherokee limited has had thousands in repairs and is in the shop often, and has only 70000 miles. When I bought the CTT my indy commented on how well built the cayenne is. We will see how it goes from here, but I do not expect too many issues. (knocking on wood).

I spent a lot of time composing a detailed post then 6-speed wanted me to sign in a second time and lost my detailed post.
THE FACT IS THESE CARS ARE UNRELIABLE and many folks are dumping them. Had I not approached these repairs incrementally and had I known in advance the outrageous nature of these expenses, I would have made great effort to dump this beast this past winter.

My out of pocket expenses on this car this year alone to date are approaching $20,000.
The woman who won my autocross division last year showed up at Parade driving another car. Her husband explained to me that they sold their CTT because it was the MOST UNRELIABLE CAR HE HAS EVER OWNED. It was constantly in the shop and costing him a couple of grand each time.
I was hopeful PAG would build a more reliable SUV with the new Cayenne, then I read posts in which folks are having a lot of trouble with the new CTT's. That's sad.
