WHen I got my new to me, used PCM and hooked it up ... the compass was there on the dash. I think the new pcm had the programing.
yeah i think the later pcm 2.1 units had that compass software pre-installed

I should be so lucky

Now I am looking at making a harness for the compass module. Anyone have a line on where to to get the connector for this?

i'll still look into this a bit more. from what i gather pcm 2.1 displays the compass on the cluster.

edit/update.......just looked at an 06 cayenne 's' with pcm 2.1. it has compass on the cluster and no magnetic field sensor under the rear seat. so yeah you need the software from porsche and then you need to go to your local dealer and get them to enable 'compass' in the pcm

I have the display on mine, however, it is my understanding that there is an optional compass that allows for very fine adjustments to accomodate different magnetic areas of the world. Isn't there a standard one like mine and a more sophisticated one?
