Definitely a DIY - I just did it a week ago, and I'm not a mechanic by any means. RennList has a great DIY article with bunches of pics. Sunset had the parts for something like $450. There are even good links to the actual Porsche PIWIS workshop manuals with step-by-step instruction you can buy for under $10.
The pipes themselves are relatively easy, with a little challenge getting the broken off pieces out of the lower tube. Mine is a Turbo, and there are ridiculously hard "t" hoses at the back engine wall that also must be replaced, that literally take hours to work off. I think the S doesn't have this problem or the maze of vacuum hoses and connectors in front of the intake.
My dealer wanted $3,200 for the job. Parts plus a few specialized tools ran me maybe $600. Just give yourself a nice long weekend. And don't forget it's 4+ gallons of coolant, not 2. I had to make two trips to the dealer.
