Cayman - more focused than 911 and Boxster
Have folks seen the autoweek article?

As some have forecast, the Cayman may turn into the most Porsche of Porsches for modern times. The CS looks like a track monster.
I might have to get one. With depreciation like it is, I MIGHT be able to trade both my turbo and my boxster in for a new Cayman in a year's time.

The article says Porsche might campaign the Cayman, meaning they surely will have addressed any oil distribution issues.

there is an oil starvation solution from porsche motorsport already for that motor - but it will instantly void your street car warranty if you install it.

Is there leeway in this, or has Porsche flat-out stated they will void the warranty on installing this part? It makes no sense, if it is a factory part.
I have heard of the "fix", but haven't talked to anyone who has done it.

Really? Why, if it is sold by Porcshe Motorsport? Locally, we get very good support for tracking our in-warranty cars.

a "factory" racing part is not a factory street car part. porsche's argument is their race cars aren't warrantied and neither should be street cars which are occassionally tracked or autocrossed. it's a pathetic stance which greatly contradicts less than honest advertising by the company about it's history and products.

well, street cars being tracked is not a warranty issue locally, maybe due to dealer "spin". dunno. but then this part may be on the "blacklist" for acceptable mods.
i should qualify this...by "tracked" I mean DEs and AX and TTs, etc. i am guessing a club raced car would get a different reaction.

wow, VERY different attitude locally. our dealers SPONSOR our track events.
i have never heard of an oil starvation caused problem around here. i thought it was only even theoretically possible if you used slicks.
