how painful to remove trailer hitch

I just picked up a 08 Cayenne and it has the trailer hitch on the car. Was wondering if anyone here has gone through with removing the hitch? If so, how painful of a process is it?

Thanks in advance

its not that painful: remove both tail lamps, remove bumper cover, remove support and wiring for the trailer. Go on ebay and search for new support which is aluminum and costs about $150-$200 shipped and is about 5lbs vs. 75lbs steel unit. I removed mine and am very happy. Car doesnt feel like a tank anymore.

I have read the several replies and my question still is WHY? would you want to remove it. Last Christmas week my wife and I were in our 2008 Cayenne GTS stopped at a red light when we were hit in the rear by a young man in a Suburban that the police estimated was going about 25-30 MPH ( he was texting) We had the towing package on the Cayenne but do not keep the removable draw bar and ball on. Bottom line the trailer hitch assembly saved our vehice. The Suburban had to be towed. We were able to drive the Cayenne over 45 miles at highway speeds to the dealer ( now it did crab a bit down the highway). While they did replace the rear bumper cover, the hitch assemble and the rear hatch( it still opened, closed and latched aftewr the impact) no other body panel nor the frame were damaged. The class three ( standard Porsche) hitch assembly prevented extensive damage to the Cayenne. Keep the hitch. I have one optioned on our new Cayenne being built as we speak.

Thanks all for your responses. Seems like its too much trouble to have to get a new valence and everything.

Thanks for all the input
