08 cayenne w/phone module..help!!

My 08 Cayenne S which I recently picked up has the phone module installed. When I insert the SIM card from my iPhone to test it, it starts to load the phonebook and searches for network but no go. It works fine in the iPhone 4 and I know FOR SURE that it does have the phone for PCM installed ($960 option on the window sticker which came with car) (AT&T SIM card)

Any ideas? Shouldn't it just work or do I have to go to the dealership for activation bull***t? Currently I'm using the Motorola Roadster Bluetooth visor from my Carrera

iPhone 4 uses the micro SIM not a full size. The car needs a normal sized sim card.

will it work on AT&T network with full size card ? I posted same question on my 997 6speedonline site and got responses that it won't work on AT&T 850mhz band but will on T Mobile (800, 1800, 1900 mhz band)

My first words of advice are to back-up everything on your sim card
From having lived in Europe for many years,i have learned(the hard way!)that sim cards are VERY fragile,so much so that they can easily be completely wiped out by simply accidently rubbing them against a sweater(static electricity or smthng)
Never once did i ever consider removing it from my phone unless it died and i took it out to immediately to put it in a new one....

I too have a 2006 cayenne turbo s from the States which has the phone module but I can't get my full sized sim card to work. I live in Alberta Canada. are these phone modules locked to certain carriers or regions of the world? Help much appreciated
