Cayenne S horn

Don't know what it is with Porsches but they seem to go through horns...one on my 997S went and now for the second time on the Cayenne!! Could someone tell me were it's located?? Don't really want to take it to the dealer just to replace the horn.

Much appreciated!!

I believe there are two of them, one high and one low. I know one of mine is out because my horn sounds like a Fiat

There are 2 - I replaced mine with a manly airhorn, but I have not created a tutorial yet ;( They are located in the fenders. You just need to park with your front wheels (one at a time) pointed inward. You then remove the 5-6 torque screws (I think its a 6mm) that hold the plastic inner fender on. Remove the screws right up to the side marker light. Then pull back the plastic fender well. I held mine in place with some string tied through one of the plastic wells holes and looped through my front rim. Shine a flashlight in the well and you will see the horn. There is one on each side and you only need a socket to get them out.

Here are some pics of my change over to the really nice and loud compact airhorn:

(On mine I reused the stock bracket and made my own harness so that I did not have to cut anything)

Hey Rox, would love to hear a sound clip of the horn. Looks like a great replacement. Any ideas why these go thru horns so frequently? Are they getting dirty somehow? Or just a $hitty design?

My guess is the horns die as they are positioned in an area that seams to have a lot of water spots. My guess is water gets into the metal diaphragm and corrodes it. My horn went to a squeak months before it died which is classic corrosion.

Concerning which is the high and low - Position your head near the LF fender and have someone beep the horn. Figure out which one is dead and then call suncoast and ask if the dead one is high or low. They will tell you.

I have "a" video of the sound but it was done inside the car and with my iphone. It Does not really a sense of how loud it is. Lets just say that when I lay into it at the Lincoln tunnel, people move.

I will upload what I have when I get back to the house.

I've gone through 3 horns already on my "08 GTS. Very common problem, dealer told me it was a poor design by Porsche and that water always causes the problem.
