I would absolutely buy a cayenne again. Owned my 05 CS for 2 years and love it. I look forward to everytime I get to drive it. I've owned a lot of cars and most are great when you buy and then the novelty fades after 6 months but this truck just makes me grin everytime I drive it (I think it has something to do with the V8).

I had an 04 CTT...drove it for four years (which is significant given my short attention span)....then full size Range Rover Super Charged after that which I quite enjoyed acutally with no problems to speak of...now back in a new Cayenne Turbo which I love. We have an X5 with the 4.8 in our company fleet that is driven by my colleauge and it has been plagued with problems. My next door neighbour's X5 has been fine...so simplicity is...they all can have issues - or none. My new CTT is not an evolution form the last iteration but rather a metamorphisis(sp?)...an outstanding vehicle. It is so tight for an SUV feels like the entire truck is clamped in a vice. Oil consumption is now back to normal after being stupid the first 4000 KM (2400 miles). With the correct wheel set up, it is the prettiest SUV on the market.

My 2004 Cayenne S has been one of the most reliable vehicles I've ever owned. I would absolutely buy another one - and I probably will in a few years!

Right there with ya. I love my V8 and probably have a silly grin, too, when not driving like a kid hauling mom.

I did!

I am now on my third Cayene "S"- '04, '08 and '11. All of them have been extremely reliable (only one major issue with the '04) and I like something unique best about each one of them: '04-had a novelty factor in 2003 and was unique, also, highly anticipated. The '08 had a great 4 panel panoramic roof, I liked that feature the best. The '11 by far has the best interior and rides the best. I've had this one for 6 months, no drama, and I like it. Sadly, they've all been black exterior.

I will just toss in another thought from the opposite camp. I bought my wife a '11 X5 V8. We were replacing a van and the 3rd row seat was a REQUIREMENT. We certainly do enjoy the X5 and it really has good power. However, your list of concerns seems to also flow over to my X5. I have already dropped 1 quart in under 4k miles. Also have seen some quirky issues on keyless entry. So If those are your only concerns, get what you really like, because you will have them on both sides.

2006 S, with 82,000 plus miles and no major issues. Has been a great vehicle and look forward to most likely replacing it with a 2012.
