Today my wife was driving our 08 Cayenne around town and suddenly started to feel the car shake violently as if the drive sahft was coming apart. It would only occur once you reached 30 mph and greater telling me that it was drive line related and not gearbox or tires and since the engine ran just fine in neutral I knew it wasn't the engine. We called AAA and they towed it to Newport Beach Porsche for a review of the problem.

Anyone hear of the 08 models having this problem? The car only has 53K miles on it. Read a lot about the first version of the Cayenne but not the 08 thru 10's. Hard to believe a Porsche would have a problem like this given the drive shaft or Cardan shaft has been around since 1861.

Again, anyone have this problem and will Porsche Goodwill it?

For all you that care Porsche is good willing this drive shaft failure. They were shocked to see a 08 with this failure. Mostly older models from 03 to 06.

Don't know why it would be shocking, its virtually the same component as first gen Cayennes, that wore out in about the same amount of mileage. I think my 04 went about 55K.

This is starting to happen to me too on my 06 Cayenne V6.

Have an appointment next week for oil change, so I'll have them look at it then.

Same thing happened on our '08 Touareg at about 30K miles. Driveshaft had to be replaced.

I was considering a low-mileage '08 GTS, but the reliability has me worried.
