I just did this. Twice. It's a fairly easy DIY, even if you take out the exhaust each time (which I did).

 

I ordered a remanufactured drive shaft from Colorado Driveshaft. $450 i think, after refund for core. Great service and fast shipping. Easy DIY, took me ~1 hour without a lift.

I've personally run 22" on my CTT for about 40k miles with zero issue. Especially to the driveshaft, which this thread is about!

 

Just replaced mine at 99k miles. If your in the LA area check out Dutch Treat in Lawndale. Rebuilt $550 installed with a one year warranty.

 

At what mileage are you guys seeing these failures?

 

my dealer just told me yesterday that the rubber is now starting to split but i can hold off for a few more months. What do you guys think?

 

So at this point we know two things.

1. You need to replace it.

2. You're not stranded right now.

On the early models they seemed to go at anything between 20k - 40k (mine was 20k) hence a lot of warranty replacements. My second one went after the next 80K at around 100K

If an 03/04 has not had at least 1 go I would be shocked, 05 and 06 still suffer tho not as much
