Just wanted to add. My 08 v6 just had this problem at 70k miles. Replaced same day by the dealer at no charge (CPO warranty) and he let me drive around a 911 for the day.. which was nice haha.

Another data point - I just rolled 100K miles on my 2004 CS on the original cardan shaft. No issues with it at this point.

Sorry to revive this thread....but how do you know when the shaft goes out? Is the car still driveable? Some type of clacking sound?

Drivable. You will know when this goes out. My service rep told me that I should hear/feel as if something is kicking underneath the car. 7 years with 30k miles and mine is solid at the moment.

Thanks...I figure it has some brace underneath to keep the shaft from dropping and pole vaulting the car
