Are the newest Cayenne's still lemons?

It's time for me to buy a new SUV and I'm deciding between the BMW 4.8is and the Cayenne Turbo.

I really would prefer to have the Cayenne Turbo, but it's reliability issues really worry me. For my winter hauler, I really don't want to have a car that's saddled with problems.

Are the Cayenne's coming off the assembly line now as unreliable as the previous ones?

Thanks,
KJ

Hi, Im from Toronto too.

I got my Cayenne in March. Just like you I was concerned about the some of the common issues and it seemed to me, after some research, that most had been rectified by MY 2005.

I have about 4,000 kms. on mine. No issues, except for the occassional Porsche entry & drive related"key not recognized" message.

Overall, an excellent experience and a unique drive.

So far, I've not had any mechanical issues with mine. My problems are annoyances, much like with the Audis I've owned. As far as I can recall, I think these complaints are echoed by X5 owners.

I have an 04 and would in no way consider it unreliable. I would take a Cayenne S over an X5 4.8

Had my CT since Jan and absolutely nothing wrong with it....

I also have an X5 4.4 but plan on selling that in the coming months - I wouldn't buy a new x5 just yet - they are completely changing the shape imminently.

Thumbs up

My '04 Cayenne TT rocks. Minor electronic glitches aside.

what happened to controlit? Do you mean because of his bad experience with Cayenne?

I would take a 4.8IS over the Cayenne S any day, infact I would most likely take it over the Turbo, but that depends.

You would take a BMW X5 4.8 over a Cayenne Turbo??? lol you must be kidding man....

I know i might sound a little bias here, but I would also probably take a Cayenne S over the 4.8..... the X5 just does not have the feel and adrenaline rush the cayenne provides.... the 4.8 just has more power and goes faster on a straight line than the S. The X5 still feels like an SUV, while the cayenne drives nothing like one.
