2010 Cayenne GTS - Air Suspension Question

I don't know if this is normal or not........

After stopping the Cayenne (the suspension selector was in the 'normal' position vs. Sport or Comfort), we stopped the car and got out. We then opened and closed the rear hatch. After about 10 minutes, while milling around the car, I suddenly heard the sound of air being released (lasted a couple of seconds) and watched the front end of the GTS slowly drop about a inch. Don't know if the back went down, as I was just stunned.

This is the wife's car, and I do not recall ever seeing/hearing this before. No error codes. Everything appears normal.

Is this normal operation for the Cayenne air suspension?

Thanks!

Yes - it does this sometimes, you will get used to it. It tries to remain as balanced as possible and sometimes will adjust each corner until it is happy.

I was surprised to see it happen for the first time when the ignition was off.

This is why you have to "lock" the suspension before you try to jack up the vehicle- it will try to adjust for the added height and might pull itself off the jack. Scary proposition.

I usually notice that behavior after a large group of people have been in the car and it needs to make an adjustment after everyone gets out.
