starter replacement
starter replacement
need to replace my starter on 05 CS 109000 miles. what is the most cost effective way to replace? dealer just quoted me 1400.00. any suggestions would be appreciated
I would recommend going with a Bosch starter like the one shown below, we also offer the OE one if you want to go that route. You will also need an intake manifold gasket. I was just wondering have you done the coolant pipes yet ? If you haven't it would be a perfect time to do those and get everything done at once.

I just did this repair on my 05 ctt. I used a Bosch like the one shown above. I took me about 7 hours as this was the first thing I have done on the new to me truck. The work required is almost the same as replacing the coolant pipes (you should do them if they have not been). This is not a very hard job but does take time.
One thing that I had to do but some have mentioned not having to do was remove the upper triple cooling pipe (it came out very hard). This also required removing a coolant vent pipe that broke on its was out.
The parts needed are the starter, 2 manifold gaskets, and if you have to remove the coolant pipe some coolant.
Special tools needed are a few torx sockets (most fasteners), a triple square drive (engine mount), and reverse torx socket (coils).
