fabspeed

I had fabspeeds installed 8k miles ago and last week one of the crossmembers that connects the pipes that exit the fabspeeds broke from one of its welds creating a HUGE rattle. There are 4 cross beams and as of yesterday 2 others fractured. Has anyone experienced this? There is a great deal of vibration that I suspect may have been buffered by the original cat system. The subsequent 2 fractured due to the loss of support from the first failure.

So this is the supports that connect the main exhaust pipes aft of the bypass pipes to the body via the hangers? or the ones that connect the 2 pipes together ?

That sounds like a bad install to me, there should be less stress due to the weight reduction.

Are you talkig about cat replacements or muffler cracks? Turbo or N/A? I have installed a dozen or so of the FVD set ups, on the Turbo Cayennes with no ill effect. It actually quite improves throttle response and sound, with motronics and the exhaust you pick up 50 ponies, and bump the torque to 600 + ft/lb. Some serious get up and go with no failures. I havent heard of trouble with anyone elses stuff either though, just to be fair. And this is the first I've heard of trouble with fabstuff.
Just my 2 dollars worth.

more info

I'm talking about the welds for the connectors between the two pipes. There is no probem with the support hangars. Sound is great was quite disturbed by the loud rattle when it first started. Air suspension was of great help in geting under there.

This is a TT and I do love the sound, and have no desire to remove the fabs. My install does have quite a few miles on it now compared to others and this could be an "age" issue.

To solve this for now I picked up pipe bands and have banded the two pipes together with a homemade home depot repair. Seems to work, I worry porsche will not warranty what would be a simple weld so I'll just leave it alone this way
