I recently replaced the rear cardan shaft on a 2006 Porsche Cayenne base model using this post. Thank you for such great detail. I was planning on selling the truck so I bought a Vevor drive shaft (pretty cheap for about $165 with the disk). The problem I am having is that I am getting an intermittent whistling noise that starts at 25 mph. It comes and goes as I accelerate. I must have gone underneath a couple of times to make sure the center bearing was aligned. Still the same issue.

I was wondering if anyone has experienced the same. I typically don't buy after-market replacements because I have been burned in the past.

Also, has the rebuilt rear can shaft from Coloradodriveshaft held up? I was considering purchasing

Porsche Cardan Shaft (Driveshaft) Transfer Case to Differential GKN Loebro GKNP20080

This costs $685.

Any thought or suggestions would help?

Colorado drivr shafts do hold up. But none will be good for life. It's design flaw...shaft support is crap. To make permanent replacement toy need to install the shaft support aftermarket. Then the shaft will last. I had good experience w. Colorado drive shaft though. I always buy genuine dust, others will ripbin quarter the time.

Thanks for the quick response!

What do you mean by shaft support? Is that an aftermarket tool that centers the bearing or something else?

Thanks in advance

Shaft support that is oem in the car, is reason the shaft fails. Rubber wears quick, allows shaft flexing under power, destroys flex disc and breaks shaft.
there are aftermarket supports you cam buy that will do proper job. I think some posted in this thread.

Ok, thank you. I am assuming the aftermarket one you are referring to would be the two-piece ones that go around the center bearing. PCA did a video on one. It is about $400.

Yes, that's it. Using genuine porsche shaft support = failure if shaft at approx 60k miles. Almost in the clock. I'm on this shaft now. Planned sell car bt gave to son to drive. Have another 30k before next shaft.
