suggestions.. comparable replacement for 06CTTS?
suggestions.. comparable replacement for 06CTTS?
First off.. love the PiG 59K miles and still going strong.. I've invested more on preventive maintenance more and kind of get the hang on the cost of things (full break job, coils, alum coolant) recently new tires and even replaced new TPMS just to get rid of that annoying beep.. But now i'm kind of looking to replace it.. half heartedly.. Q7 is one option mostly for the 3rd row, BMW X5M maybe? or just go up to newer Cayenne's? Note: I intend to get pre owned as I cant afford new car prices..
I have to say - the Q7 TDi's are really nice. Interior is really high quality, it's a really comfortable place for everyone, and that 3rd row will be handy for you. The TDi's can be tuned (not like CTTS kind of power, but no slouch either) and the gas mileage will be a lot better. I love the CTT, but there definitely isn't much room in there. The new CTT isn't much bigger in that regard. Plus, resale on the TDi's are outstanding. They really do hold their value well, but that's pretty much how it is across all the VAG cars running diesels.
Errrr.... It's an SUV. Driving lessons will net a greater increase in performance than a new vehicle.

The OP is asking about SUVs, and is posting under the Cayenne section of this forum. I'm curious to hear how driving lessons have increased the performance while driving your SUV? And, no, driving lessons would not increase performance in the 1/4 mile for a heavy SUV with an automatic
Two - Quoting ET's for a 5,000 pound SUV - now that's ridiculous. Even though a couple of people do it. Get your groceries with the SUV, go fast with a go-fast car.
Two answers to your curiosity: One- driving lessons have everything to do with any type of racing. Most people need lessons prior to doing any type of racing whether it's 1/4 mile or racetrack.

Your input about racing a 1/4 in a Cayenne is also ridiculous. If you think most people need lessons to figure out how to time a tree in an SUV without a high stall or launch control, it must mean your own driving skills are below average?
There's guys on here that'll get there groceries with their SUVs and get there faster than your "go fast" car...
Our new vehicle to replace our Cayenne is an Audi SQ5. I ordered it in February and we should take delivery in a few weeks. I'm keeping the Cayenne as my airport mule and dog hauler. The SQ5 is smaller than the Cayenne and it doesn't have a 3rd row seat, but it's big enough for our needs. It won't be as fast as a CTT or a CTTS, but it still has plenty of forced-induction punch for my needs.

I test drove an sq5. Drives and handles like a car. Very quick in short first gears. Interior is very nice. For the money it's a real bargain but I wouldn't take it over a CTT.
There are many very favorable reviews and vids online of that car.

Mine was custom ordered, and I should take delivery in a few weeks. My only drive so far has been a test drive, so I couldn't really push the car too hard.
It does have a sport suspension, but it doesn't offer PASM, PDCC, etc. It isn't an "apples to apples" comparison with a CTT. It will really compare more favorably to a Macan. Unfortunately, the Macan won't be readily available for a while. The SQ5 will be my wife's daily driver and we really needed to get something new for her this spring. I tried to talk her into a new Cayenne S, but she liked the smaller vehicle better. Up in the mountains, I think the Audi's supercharged engine will be sweet compared to the normally aspirated Cayenne S.

The gap between a CTT and an S is wider here at altitude than many give them credit for. The SQ5 should be a nice step up for your wife.
If she had a CTT the choice would have been a lot harder.

The trick for many is that nothing on the market really does what a CTT/s can do as a total package. Towing, speed, handling, 4x4, build quality, etc. Many vehicles have a couple of pieces of that combo but none seem to really have the complete package.
