On the heels of the announcement that Porsche, Volkswagen and Audi will team up to develop gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles, Porsche said that it will build a hybrid version of its Cayenne SUV. The alteration to the SUV will deliver a fuel savings of 15 percent while “retaining its legendary Porsche driving dynamics.” The full hybrid system and the Cayenne are expected by 2010. I could certainly be wrong, but I imagine that the PR people at Volkswagen and Audi are currently in the process of cooking up similar press releases for the Touareg and Q7, both of which share more than a few parts with the Cayenne.
