Cayenne Bose amp playing up

Cayenne Bose amp playing up
Hi
I have an UK spec 03 cayenne with the Bose sound cutting out intermittently, I believe its the bose amp the one in the pillar by the cd changer, what options do I have on replacement/repair, if repair I do know an audio specialist whom could try to fix it but before I take it to him what does normally cause the issues in these amps could it be a easy repair for a specialist or would it be easier swapping it out?
I have also seen an amp on ebay but don't know whether it will be compatible bose part no 7L5035466B off an 08 cayenne.
