Pre-purchase question

I'm new to the world of Cayennes...or at least I will be when I buy one...

I have an '02 996 turbo which I love, have owned it for about 7 years, it has close to 63,000 miles.

Here's my question when looking at used Cayennes--how many miles is too many miles? In general. I know a lot depends on how the car was driven, how it was maintained, etc., etc. But in general, for them, what is considered to be a mileage where you wouldn't consider owning one for fear of major breakdowns? Or is there even a fear of breakdown? Are the 4.8 V8s pretty solid? I'm currently looking at a 2009 GTS, manual transmission, with 92,000 miles on it. It has been locally owned and maintained by the local Porsche dealer. Of course PPI is a must, but what else should I look for? Thanks!

gh0stman is infamous around these parts
The 4.8's are pretty good from what I have heard. They didn't have the same issues as the 4.5's had. I wouldn't worry about the 92K on the clock. But as you said, I would get a PPI just for piece of mind.

As for what to check, I would check all the fluids make sure they look good and are at proper levels. And see if you can get a maintenance history on the vehicle.
