Fuel Pumps Questions - 2005 CTT

Looks like I may need to replace fuel pumps (have the symptoms during starting), and driver side seal on tank must have given too, since I am smelling gas from there.

So would anyone be kind enough to present list of parts to replace the pumps and the seals? Whatever I would need to do the job (I assume pumps, seals, and whatever other hoses, bolts etc are needed). I greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

So far I have - need verification that correct for my car please:

1. 95520113301 Sealing Ring Qty2 $11.31/each
2. 95562093201 Fuel Pump-Pass Qty1 $266.87
3. 95562010303 Fuel Pump-Drvr Qty1 $281.74

QUESTIONS:
- While I am at it, are there any other parts that are highly recommended to replace at same time?
- Are these parts correct for 2005 Cayenne Turbo? Any best place to get best price?

Change the fuel regulator and fuel filter whilst your there.

Sorry for multiple questions but want to be sure:

1. Are you talking #11-Regulator and #9-filter at this URL?

2. Is there one regulator and one filter per car, or do they come one per driver side and another per passenger side each?
Looking at this, there appears to be flange with regulator or flange with filter, not both. Greatly appreciate get me straightened out on this.
3. I was planning to replace both fuel pumps - but is it necessary? Would the fuse test for pumps work? Is one or both more likely?
4. Looks like the regulator is in one flange and filter in the other. Correct?
5. So far to me looks like - am I missing anything here (nuts, bolts, hoses, etc)?:
a) get fuel pump for whichever side is exposed with fuse test
b) get flange with filter
c) get flange with regulator
d) get 2 sealing rings


What is the best way to get these? As a kit? Separately? Advice greatly appreciated.

Yes number 9 and 11 are correct.

One filter and regulator per car.

Change both pumps if mileage > 100,000 miles, they are a wear item.

I bought mine from Sonnen.

Just take it to the dealer, fuel pumps can go out at anytime and you want to make sure its 100%

Nah. Not taking to dealer. Job not difficult and i would rather save several hundred bucks and use it for other things i like. Plus i will get to know the car even better, which is priceless in my book.

I had both of my fuel pumps replaced at my dealership's service department last fall. Following is the list of part numbers utilized for the repair (as shown on the invoice):


95562084110
95562093101
95592091101
95562093201
95520113301 (2 of these)
95562042100


Mine made it to 120K miles before needing new fuel pumps. Been flawless since the repair.

I am at about 120k now. Want to do soon to make sure that one day it does not even start. Getting harder and harder now. Really appreciate this list too. Thank u.

Longer starting times can be attributed to an inefficient battery as well, especially if it's the first start of the day.

My CTTS's symptom was strong smell of fuel outside the car near the left rear tire. It was weird because there wasn't really a fuel smell inside, which is where might expect to smell fuel as a result of a failed seal, but man, outside it smelled like an open gas can.


One footnote is to be careful with the fuel gauge sending unit when replacing the pumps. Mine had to go back because the sending unit was binding on one of the hoses in the tank causing my fuel gauge to not function correctly.

thought about it but just put in a new batt. so that's excluded. I am positive its the pump(s). Ill need to get in since one seal has broken and I can smell gas on driver side. Thank you though.

Has anyone tried installing the VW fuel pumps in a Turbo? They're much cheaper.
