Glove Box Damper Stop Replacement

How do I replace a glove box damper stop, a part that is on each side of the glove box, that attaches to a tiny shock allowing glove box to open more slowly?
One of my damper stops broke (the hook part which attaches to the shock). I thought it just pops up but the thing wont budge on the way out.

The PN for the part is 955 552 123 00

I bought a couple to replace my broken ones but I haven't tried to tackle it yet. I was looking at the part when it arrived trying to sort out in my head how it was going to come out of the strut. I might have some time this weekend to give it a go.

If I figure it out I'll come back and let you know.

I have a couple too. The hook on the damper is removable from the shock (the hook clips to a tiny bar at end of the shock).
The problem I have is that the base of the damper seems to be insert once and live with it forever type of install.
It has a large wedge that has two edges on either side. Once you squeeze the wedge into the hole on the glove box, there did not appear to be a way to remove it. I was trying and ended up breaking off the damper from the glove box.
So now I will need to get dremmel tool out to muck with that . If you figure out how to install damper that would be awesome. I have the other side to do (bought two parts so both will go in).

Take care.
