Angry Help Please ! Issues/Questions 2005 Cayenne Turbo

Hey guys. I have a 2005 Cayenne Turbo. This is my Dream SUV. I just purchased this last Friday. I have some questions about the instrument cluster & stereo.

There is this module wedged in the front bumper with a wire harness attached and not sure what it does, it's definitely not factory (see photos) and curious what it might be?

The stereo doesn't seem to have all the options working even though it lets me turn on and off things, and the instrument cluster doesn't show all the information pages that the manual says it's supposed to be able to such as tire pressures and such.. only miles to empty, and navigation if I have it activated.

Please see attached photos. Also, wondering where I can get update discs for this head unit, and which unit I may have?
I attached photos of all the software pages. Funny thing, is the navigation doesn't seem to have any issues. but every thing else has that explication point next to it.

The screen does have damage, but doesn't affect what it can display.. Sorry for the large photos!

Truck has 119k miles on it.

Thank you for any help! I appreciate it!

I do have another question about my head unit, the PCM 2.1 I got all those errors, presumably because I need to update the firmware of all those modules, but also, my VOICE button says unavailable when I press it. I can't set the date, or time zone, nor can I change it from 12/24 hour clock. I prefer 24hr and that's what it is stuck on so I'm ok with that.

Any ideas? Should I take it to a Porsche Dealer and have them update the software??

I have been trying to do a PCM update to my 05 CTT since it bought it 3 years ago. A place online (climarepair)sold me the update discs and my head unit could never read them, so Im stuck with the 2005 maps disc in the nav DVD unit, and the based level PCM software. It still works fine, just not the newest maps out there. Some forum members where nice enough to send me their original software update disks, but they werent the correct ones for the latest version. I didnt want to even try the old disks, as many have bricked their PCM trying to update it, and since mine works fine, Ive lived with the old maps.
I even asked my dealer to update my PCM so I could use a 2015 map disk, and they said they couldnt!!!! Unbelievable

BTW, Those errors you are seeing are NOT because you need a software update.
.
Looks to me like there is a break in your MOST (fiber optic cable) thats why all the caution items. You will have to trace all the orange MOST cables to make sure they are connected. I would start by pulling the head unit and make sure its connected behind. I see there is a Parrot cal thingy in your car, that might be to blame if its not working but is in the MOST loop. If the loop is broken, then everything downstream doesnt work.
Get that fixed and you should have everything working, its not likely the units themselves are bad.

For the date, do a search for this on the other forums, I just had to fix this on mine, Old NAV systems dont like the year 2019, so you have to move the passenger seat as far forward as you can, find the back of the NAV under the seat, and look for the MOST cable I mentioned above, its 2 wire, one in one out in the same harness, orange wires. Pull it out, the go to the date setting, a new menu will now be available to set the date correctly. This works cause the NAV normal set its, but cant due to the old architecture, so once you remove it from the MOST loop, you can set the date manually. When the date is set, plug it back in.
Im guessing this MOST is connect and ok, since your NAV appears to be the only item in the loop, but check the connect and the wires while you pull it to set the date.
Other MOST connection easy to check is the one for the CD changer in the trunk right access panel. If you dont have a change, just make sure the connector hanging there looks ok. Again, 2 orange wires to a black plastic connector, if stock should have gray foam around it.

I think the thing in your front grill might be a radar detector sensor. You might have a can of worms behind the dash, whoever did all this add on stuff previously, I bet thats the sourcce of all your PCM issues

I think I see the wiring to that Parrot cut off? If so, thats your problem, its hooked into the MOST loop behind the dash, but if its cut, not working, its "breaking" the loop, so everything else downstream of the NAV is not working. That should do it.

Funny, your pedals still have the blue protective covering on them, so did mine! Its like the dealer wouldnt remove these, or perhaps owners thought that was the original color of the pedals!!!

The Parrot is hooked up and fully functional. I hate it, and it's ugly and doesn't do Bluetooth music streaming, so I'm going to take it out. Plus the placement of that control unit isn't in a very good spot..

Not sure if there is a break in the MOST fiber loop or not, because I did successfully install a "Dension GW52MO1 500S BT" module, and I had to loop it into the fiber loop at the back of the head unit (those warning signs were already there before I started), and the head unit already seemed to be coded for a CD-Changer, and this worked out of the box. I do not have a CD-Changer in the trunk, I already checked because I thought it was odd that I could hit the CD-Button twice and get to a "CD-Changer" but none was attached. Maybe the loop is broken back there? (like no loop-back plug installed?)

I'm slowly getting this thing back to 100%. Only really have maintenance items for the most part, Tie-rod boot, front passenger bellows/boot thing, coolant flush, running gear fluid changes (will probably have my mechanic install the updated valve body or at least the kit from Trans-Go), headlight adjustment which I'll do with the Durametric (driver side is a little high but I get no errors, and it goes back there after I've manually adjusted the unit and reinstalled it)

And lastly, the diverter valves need replacing. They're original, and half the time I only get half boost, and beyond that when I let off the throttle, I see a surge in the gauge, and the only code I've had since I've owned it is the "Over-boost" P0234.

With all those red triangles, even my new adapter I installed is getting the same error (I slightly expected that), but everything still functions normally, audio works out of all channels, maps/navigation seems to work fine. Has one of the last addresses still locked in there for some reason, and it thinks I'm in Anacortes WA when I live much further away, though the "map" screen does show a very accurate location.

Upon digging on the equipment codes and knowing it's original sale state, this was build as a warm climate vehicle (Florida).

I appreciate the info so far, I'll try the fiber loop at the back of the DVD unit.

Right, there should be a black plug that fits into the harness end for a potential CD changer. I bet if there was one coded in originally in the car, someone took out the unit, but didnt re-install the loop/plug so the loop is broken.
I dont have a denison, rather something similar and a lot cheaper and love it for blue tooth streaming.
Your overboost, check the vac lines at the back of the engine, between the fire wall and the intake manifold, after I had my coolant pipes done, one of the lines was not connected and I got the overboost cause the boost signal was interupted. But there are so many vac lines to check, it could be the ones running to the diverter valves as well.
I too have new diverter valves in hand, although I only have 70k, I still think they need replaced. I hold boost well and to the correct level, I just get a bit of overboost after letting off the throttle, but nothing to set off any codes. More preventative at this point.
Good luck getting everything straightened out, its a labor of love with these Cayennes for sure, but can be handled just like any other car.

Mine was a flordia car too, had 43k on it when I bought it in 2017, its been my daily driver since.

This is what it looks like at the back where the CD Changer should be. I can't really tug on anything, it all seems to be connected to something. so I don't think the loop is broken, but I'll have to look at it more in a bit..

Sorry for the large image.

There are fiber lines running up to the amplifier also.
