I think you'd be surprised at how the GL drives. I can't stomach the R, and their low sales show that I'm not alone in my opinion. My wife is in love with the GL - the dealer just got hers in today. It's a great ride for an SUV, and I think you'd actually prefer it to the R500.

ever consider the ML 63 amg, thats more in line with the Cayenne turbo than the GL450, plus if you want more power in a 7 passenger SUV just wait a few months for the GL 550.
Like previous posts its all about driver preference. Based on looks, comfort and overall luxury, definately go with the GL, if you want speed, handling, and raw power hit up the Cayenne or ML63.
