Newbie Cayenne S owner - Few Questions

First, the CS is amazing for a SUV. I was looking for a sports car capable of hauling my kids and my trailer. I definitely hit the mark. However, there's a few quirky things I need help with.

1) At about 75mph, I get a whistling noise from the right front window. Drives me nut. Any fixes for this?

2) My power connectors (cigarette lighter) stopped working. ??

3) The auto shifting is rediculous. 5th gear at 30mph, geez. She also kicks and screams when attempting to get back into 2nd gear. If I shift into 1st she damn near ***** slaps me. I've started using the tip almost exclusively.

4) What's up with the cheapo rearview mirror. They pull that from Yugo?

5) Is 91 octane really really necessary for this rig? I began using 89 with my Audi A6 with no noticeable issues. Hate to give the gas cartel more than I have too.

'05 CS with 20k miles. Air suspension (awesome feature), Nav, Bose.

Item 1 - is it still under warranty? Item 2 - check the fuse. Item 3 - It is lame. Use tip whenever possible. Item 4 - Good one! Item 5 - You have a $50-60K car, extra $5-10 at the pump isn't going to kill you.

Regardding Q3) Just keep the Traction OFF [ PSM OFF] it downshifts and wont keep the tranny on 6th or 5th gear all the time.

I will try the PSM off. Ultimately, I think it just requires manual all the time, which is fine considering that I just came from a 6speed manual as my every day driver.

Regarding the gas. Yes, I can afford the difference, but if you think about it, $5 twice a week over an entire year adds up to $520. Money is money and it works better for me in my pocket. Was really just curious if anyone has attempted running 89.

If your owner's manual states you should use premium, my advice is to use premium. A higher octane rating means the fuel is less likely to cause your engine to knock or ping. Knock, also known as detonation, occurs when part of the fuel-air mixture in one or more of your car's cylinders ignites spontaneously due to compression, independent of the combustion initiated by the spark plug. Instead of a controlled burn, you get what amounts to an explosion--not a good thing for your engine. To avoid this, high-octane gas is formulated to burn slower than regular, making it less likely to ignite without benefit of spark. Spend the money and buy the premium gas- I hate giving up the money too, but I made that decision when I purchased my Audi and Cayenne.

30 mph in 5th gear? It's to give you a smooth driving experience, although I don't recall being higher than 4th at that speed- I'll check it out over the next few days.

Check the fuses for power connection issues, and make sure you adapters are plugged in all the way.

Whistling noise? Could be a door or window seal- complain to the dealer.

Cheapo mirror, yeah I hate it too- but the car was the color I wanted, and I couldn't find one around with the package that had the anti-dazzle mirror.

I have a Palm with a bluetooth GPS- Nav was of no interest to me.

Bose is a marketing company- buy some MB Quart speakers and see how much better the sound can get.

Enjoy your new ride, and welcome to 6Speed.
