How Good/Bad are the 2004 Cayenne S' ?

I found a nice 2004 CS and am weighing the options. I am not particularly fond of the design, but this one has been massaged with some TechArt goodies and the result is aesthetically pleasing.

Bottom line from those who actually have mileage on one... is it worth it? I don't really want to be taking it back to the dealer every other week. If you have experience with the 2004 CS, I would like to hear from you.
Thanks!

I have an 04 S with 33k on the clock.. My rear hatch door doesn't close properly, or rather closes, after I slam it, itdon thave the auto-gate option. Guage cluster has to be replaced since my "trip" miles doesn't reset back to 0. (dealer ordered part) Thats it that I can remember.. Mechanically it has been great. GL with the purchase

I have a 04 CS with 64000 miles that we bought from someone on tehforum here and have not had too many big issues. Rear window latch fixed by dealer, Tire pressure monitor system very intermittent, worked for a while and now won't work, drive shaft replaced under warranty, but overall those have been the only issues.
would do it again.

Reading these posts is building my confidence. I am not sure why these cars have picked up such a bad rep.

The 04's did have some minor software issues, but were most were addresed in past recall campaigns. Mechanically the Cayenne's have always been solid.

It is a no-go on the first CS. It is out of warranty and not certifiable... what chaps me about this is the fact that it is at a dealership that is both Porsche and Cadillac, in addition to many other brands. Because it is technically on the Cadillac lot, the Porsche guys can't do a thing with it (warranty, etc). No matter how good or bad these may be, I won't open the door on one without a warranty (Porsche specific).

My wife’s '04 Cayenne S with 17k miles on the clock needed to replace the water pump, where the car is not under warranty now .... + many many issues with the front light...we may be thinking to change it

my .02 cents...save money and get a newer Cayenne is a great car.
