Hello to all, newbie here.
I have (my wife has, I get to drive it sometimes) an 04 "S", Basalt with Havana interior. My daily is an 03 Vette vert.

I found a guy over on DigitalCorvettes.com in the parts for sale are that is/was selling Escort SRX for about $750. It has laser shifters and mounts concealed with just the display sitting on top of the steering column. I had a local alarm/stereo shop install it...took a long time and more $ than I had thought but it is a great set up too.

I see I can attach jpg files, I'll take some shots in the next week and add or post in separate threads.

JAMY:

Many people take your approach, but remember the first time it saves you from a ticket it pays for itself by avoiding a fine, points on the license, and higher insurance rates. I definately think the V1 is worth every penny. I have not tried the aforementioned laser setup, but I am sure it is very godo as well. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference, pay now or pay later.

Granted $750 for the unit was alot, the install was almost as much.
My wife was making 350 mile round trip treks here in Illinois on some of the best enforced roads. Illinois has been know to used lidar/laser (my son got nailed twice in 2 weeks by the same cop, same place). When she exceeds, she exceeds....I rerally figured it was cheap insurance. She now tells me she misses it when she drives the other cars we own.

I have a friend who has an Escort 8500 who told me he drove right past a cop standing with a "radar" gun pointed at him and his detector did not go off. He suspected it might be the new "POP" radar. I don't think V1 or my SRX is equipped for it. Escort's new 8500 "X" is set for it.

TC: good call, its better to be safe, 399 isn't that much, and the labor cost to hardwire is only 65bucks, so I am pretty happy with it, anyway I ordered it and made an appointment with SIM

TC: you'll be the first one to see it ^^
