Towing question
I am planning on taking my GT2 from Houston to Harrison AR (about 1200 miles round trip) to have Protomotive install a fuel system etc. I was going to rent a trailer and tow it w/ my CTT.
I have a hitch, but have been having some problems finding the electrical plug so that the trailer has lights/brakes. I hope to resolve that issue and asked a local Porsche race guy (Sam Shalala) who has towed his share of race cars to the track. He said that the fundamental problem is that the GT2 is a rear engine car and therefore the trailer will be rear heavy. That creates a situation in which there is very little weight at the trailer link to the truck and therefore it is easy for the trailer to fishtail/flip or other catostrophic results. He said he only tows using a Suburban/Expedition or preferably a Dually. Is he overly cautious? Is it better just to drive my GT2 directly and put the miles on it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |
With the Cayenne weighing over 5000 lbs. plus having massive 6 piston brake calipers, I don't see this being a problem. A few Cayenne owners here tow their 911s.

you could always back it on to the trailer :)
