Arrow 04 Versus 05 Cayenne S

Hey guys, I am hardly a newbie when it comes to Porsches,

but I have limited knowledge when it comes to Cayennes
(although I did the Cayenne "Off Road Experience" in Leipzig, Germany).

I am looking at 04's and 05's "S" models and trying to spend

$40k or less.

Let me know what I should be aware of.

TIA

Marty K

from my understanding a lot of the gremlins has been worked off by 05.
i had a 05 with 23k miles with no major issues. The Navigation was acting a little crazy so the dealer changed it out. One of the side bulb went out and changed that. Besides that it was all good to go.

I found the same in my research Woodster - 05 is the year to shoot for. Just picked up an 05 Turbo for my wife and it is great. I have only had it for a couple of weeks but have been very pleased so far.

Hey Marty,

Whatever you decide to buy make sure it's cpo'd.. things to check coilpacks, bixenon condensation, comfort seat module, rear hatch issue.. I suggest go for an 05.. if you can..and look for one with pasm and full leather.. good luck..

Currently driving an '04 Cayenne S. I have had the car about 2 years. The ignition coils were cracked and replaced by dealer. The cornering light is out and needs to be replaced.
Brake pads and sensors changed out by a third party at around 30,000. No need for rotor replacement.

On two separate occasions I have started the car and the amplifier for the radio will not respond and the NAV will issue a warning. Turned the car off and on and the problem was fixed.

FYI, that seems to happen on all current Porsche vehicles. I had/have a 996 Carrera, 996 Turbo, and Boxster S and they have all done this on occasion.

No, has to be purchased from the dealer. But you can purchase a third party warranty from your dealer. I know this opens up a major debate but I have always come out ahead especially when purchased through the dealer as they fight for you when needed and handle all of the paperwork.

just make sure that the vehicle you buy has been properly looked at and it won't be your problem.
