At the risk of revealing my ignorance, is it possible to get clear lenses for the taillights and then install red bulbs to comply with state law for breaking. I think the most objectionable part of the rear of the new body style is the bright red, kidney shaped taillights which wouldn't look so bad if they were clear.

 

sounds illegal, check ebay would my suggestion. the red doesnt look bad.. looks like EVERY other car on the road besides maybe those ugly lexus ones with clear that you cant see when they brake.

How would it be illegal assuming you have the red bulbs illuminating while braking? The wifey's RX has those "ugly" clear ones, which came standard on the car, so obviously not illegal.

eBay is a good suggestion, otherwise, you may be able to have one of those custom/tuning shops special order them for you.
