Keep the Radio off / Is there a fix yet?
Keep the Radio off / Is there a fix yet?
The '11 mute/unmute state of the radio (audio) is not saved when turning off and leaving the car. It always comes on when turning on the car to the last volume setting.
I seen a number of threads on the topic, but no resolution. Dealer has said they get complaints, but it's just the way it works.
So, you have a +/- $100K car with a radio that won't stay off.
Has this bug been fixed in the '12 model? Or, has a patch been released for the '11?
At least the '12 let's you change the temperature to a clock on the main panel. I haven't seen that in a patch for the '11 yet.
Regards.

I haven't tried, but I'm wondering why the last setting isn't saved? Mine seems to stay at the last volume/station/iPod setting from the last time I left the car. I remember reading the old thread about this, but since I never have my volume off, Ive never had an issue.
You can turn off the PCM by holding down the volume button for about 2 sec. If you turn the car off with the PCM off, it will stay off when your turn the car on. I make it a habit to turn it off before I shutdown the Cayenne. I have a '11 btw.
THANK YOU!!! I had no idea it could be turned off until you posted this. Works like a charm!
Thanks all.
I'm aware you can turn the entire PCM off. But, I feel there is a design flaw in that the memory does not remember the mute for the radio is on/off.
Effectively, to turn your radio off you do need to turn the whole PCM off along with all its other features. Seems like a simple patch, but maybe its too difficult due to the complexity of the PCM software.
